The road pays for the child.
A normal taxi earns from fares alone. An ETIOCA car also earns from its screens and its on-board services. That is what makes it possible to set aside a share for children from every paid mile, without raising the fare.
The mile
Every paid mile (in Europe, every kilometre) driven with a passenger is recorded by the car.
The income
Fare, advertising on the roof and in-cab screens, mini-bar, coffee, on-board shop and ETIOCA Wallet.
The reserve
A share of that income is set aside for every paid mile and moved into the children's reserve every month.
The Foundation
The Foundation draws from the reserve each month to pay for the children it supports.
The child
Support reaches the child through trusted local partners: schooling, food and healthcare.
A promise until 18 needs a reserve.
Supporting a child until the age of 18 is a commitment of many years. A car can be off the road, a month can be quiet, but a child's school fees cannot wait. The reserve is there so that support continues month after month, whatever happens on the road.
- Planned at the Gibraltar Savings Bank, whose deposits and interest are guaranteed by the Government of Gibraltar under the Gibraltar Savings Bank Act.
- Kept apart from the money of the companies that run the cars.
- Spent only on children, through the Foundation and its partners.
- Reported every month: miles counted, money set aside, money paid out and children supported.
The reserve will be opened when the Foundation is established. The ETIOCA group has no agreement with the Gibraltar Savings Bank at this stage.
Paid for by the car, not by the passenger.
Because the children's share comes from screens and services as well as fares, the fare you pay stays the same. Everyone who takes part helps, simply by doing what they already do.
- Passengers help with every ride, and with every coffee or purchase on board.
- Advertisers help with every campaign on our screens.
- Drivers help with every mile of every shift.
- Better service means more rides, more rides mean more cars, and more cars mean more children supported.
Simple rules, published in full.
Counted from the road
The children's share is linked to real paid miles, so it grows with every car and every ride.
Kept apart
The reserve and the Foundation are separate from the operating companies.
Open books
Monthly reports and annual accounts will be published for everyone to see.
This page describes the planned model. The exact share per mile, the reserve rules and the Foundation's terms will be published when the Foundation is established.
